About Qinghai Normal University

Qinghai Normal University (QHNU), founded in 1956 and located in Xining, Qinghai Province, is a provincial key university with distinctive strengths in teacher education, ethnic minority education, and plateau regional studies. It offers a comprehensive education system covering undergraduate, postgraduate, international, and vocational programs across 10 disciplines, including liberal arts, science, engineering, management, and law.

The university has two campuses: the North City Campus (1,208 mu) with modern facilities for undergraduate education and academic exchanges, and the West City Campus (172 mu) focusing on postgraduate and international education. Both campuses blend natural landscapes with state-of-the-art infrastructure.

By 2025, QHNU comprises 19 colleges offering 61 undergraduate majors, 5 first-level doctoral programs, 21 first-level master’s programs, and 13 professional master’s categories. Notable strengths include 14 national first-class undergraduate majors (e.g., Chinese Language and Literature, Mathematics), 4 national characteristic majors, and research centers like the Plateau Science and Sustainable Development Institute (co-founded with Beijing Normal University) and the Qilian Mountain National Park Ecology School.
