About Glasgow College, UESTC
In October 2012, Glasgow College, UESTC, or UoG-UESTC Joint School was approved by the Ministry of Education (MOE51UK2A20121313N) as the first undergraduate program in Southwest China to cooperate with one of the top 100 universities in the world to offer dual-degree programs in electronic information engineering.
In January 2013, UoG-UESTC Joint school, the first secondary school established by UEIT for this cooperative education project, was officially established. In the same year, the major of “Electronic Information Engineering” started to enroll in the first-year plan.
In February 2016, Glasgow College, a cooperative institution between UoG and the University of Glasgow, UK, was approved by the Ministry of Education, with the English name of Glasgow College, UESTC (Ministry of Education license number: MOE51GBA02DNR20161735N). Glasgow United College was renamed Glasgow College and the former co-operative program was incorporated into the college. So far, the co-operative education program and the co-operative education institution are running in parallel. In the same year, Glasgow College added a major in Communication Engineering, and in 2019, Glasgow College added a major in Microelectronics Science and Engineering.
All the professional education of Glasgow College is based on the advanced educational concepts of world-renowned universities and adopts the syllabus and curriculum design of Glasgow University. The aim is to enhance students’ innovative thinking ability, cultivate outstanding talents with international vision and international competitiveness and a high sense of social responsibility in the world IT industry and engineering. All professional teaching in the College is included in the quality control system of Chinese higher education and British higher education, and qualified graduates receive degrees from both UESTC and the University of Glasgow.
