About Hainan University
Hainan University is a comprehensive key university established in August 2007 by merging the former South China University of Tropical Agriculture and the former Hainan University, which is a “joint ministry-province” university between the Ministry of Education and the People’s Government of Hainan Province.
Hainan University has 36 colleges, with more than 41,000 full-time students, including more than 33,000 general undergraduates, 7,000 master’s students, nearly 600 doctoral students, and more than 300 international students. There are more than 2,300 full-time teachers, including more than 1,200 teachers with senior titles, more than 1,150 teachers with doctoral degrees, one academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, one academician of the Canadian National Academy of Engineering, one foreign academician of the Japanese Academy of Engineering, and 19 national talents such as Changjiang Scholars and Ten Thousand Plan Leaders.
