About Lijiang Culture and Tourism College
Lijiang Culture and Tourism College (formerly Yunnan University College of Tourism and Culture) is located in Lijiang City, Yunnan Province, which enjoys the three laurels of World Cultural Heritage, World Natural Heritage and World Memory Heritage.
Founded in 2001, the school is one of the first independent colleges with distinctive characteristics confirmed by the Ministry of Education of China in 2004. After twenty years of construction and development, the school was successfully transferred from an independent college to an independent undergraduate private higher education school in February 2021, which is one of the first two colleges in Yunnan Province to be successfully transferred by the Ministry of Education. In the “2021 Soft Science China Private College Ranking”, the university is ranked 57th, the first of its kind in Yunnan Province, and is among the top private colleges in China.
The university has an independent campus covering an area of 1,528 acres, teaching instruments and equipment worth nearly 100 million yuan, and a library of nearly 2 million books. The university has complete sports and cultural facilities, fully functional logistic service facilities, and the only golf driving range covering 20,000 square meters among colleges and universities in Yunnan Province. The campus environment is beautiful and elegant, and has been selected by the Ministry of Education as one of the top 50 colleges and universities in China in terms of campus environment satisfaction, and the campus architecture has won the Silver Award of Architectural Design of the Ministry of Construction, the Grand Prize of Architectural Creation in the 60th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China, and the title of “Garden Unit of Yunnan Province”, etc. The campus building has won the Silver Award of Architectural Design of the Ministry of Construction, the Grand Prize of Architectural Creation for the 60th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China and the “Yunnan Provincial Garden Unit”.
According to the national plan, the school is open to the whole country to cultivate high quality applied and technical skill talents with innovative ability who can adapt to the needs of industry positions, have solid theoretical foundation, strong professional and practical ability, and develop morally, intellectually, physically, and aesthetically. There are 8 departments of economics, management, literature, art, science, engineering, medicine and education, and 39 undergraduate majors; there are 8 second-level colleges and 2 teaching departments, with a full-time student population of nearly 18,000, covering 30 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions, and two-thirds of the students come from all over the country outside Yunnan Province; the school has trained more than 40,000 qualified undergraduates for the country and society. In the past five years, the year-end employment rate of graduates has remained above 96.5%. The university actively carries out foreign cooperation and exchange, and a number of students have gone to the United States, France, Germany, Thailand and other countries and Taiwan to study or participate in foreign exchange and cooperation programs.
In 2018, the university was awarded the title of “Civilized Campus of Yunnan Province”, the only independent college in Yunnan Province to receive this honor. 2019, the university was jointly named “Yunnan Provincial Safe Campus” by Yunnan Provincial Department of Education, Yunnan Provincial Political and Legal Affairs Committee and Yunnan Provincial Public Security Department. “In 2020, it won the “Advanced Collective Award” and the Gold Award of Red Travel Track in the National Competition of China International Student “Internet+” Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, which is the only college in Yunnan Province to win this award. It is the only college in Yunnan Province to win this award. In 2020, it won two first prizes in the Yunnan Region of the First National College Teachers’ Teaching Innovation Competition and the final of the Fourth Yunnan Provincial College Teachers’ Teaching Competition, the only college in the province to win two first prizes among similar institutions.
