About Nanchang Normal University
Nanchang Normal University, or NCNU, formerly known as Jiangxi Institute of Education, is a public comprehensive university under the direct administration of Jiangxi Province, China. Its origin can be traced back in 1952, and it’s one of the earliest eight undergraduate universities in Jiangxi province.
The University is situated in Nanchang, a famous historic and culture city on the middle and lower stretches of Yangtze River, owning Changbei and Qingshanhu campuses.
There are 818 full-time Chinese faculty and staff in NCNU, among which faculty with senior professional titles account for 31.4 percent and teachers with postgraduate or doctoral degrees account for 75.8%. A number of teachers have achieved research programs supported by the National Natural Science Fund or National Social Science Fund, or were rewarded as the prominent teachers at national level, enjoying special allowance of the State Council.
The university is deeply rooted in primary education, featuring teacher training and teacher education. It has cultivated 148,000 students since its establishment, contributing a lot to the development of Jiangxi economy and society, especially in the area of the primary education.
Faculties and Majors of Nanchang Normal University
Nanchang Normal University is a normal university in Jiangxi Province. It has 12 faculties, including the School of Education, the School of Tourism and Economic Management, the School of Foreign Languages, the School of Arts, the School of Mathematics and Information Science, the School of Physics and Electronic Information Science, the School of Chemistry and Food Science, the School of Life Science, the School of Music and Dance, the School of Fine Arts, the School of Physical Education and the School of Marxism.
The 12 colleges cover 27 general undergraduate majors, including education, art, management, science, literature, engineering, law and other disciplines. At present, they have more than 10000 full-time students.
International Cooperation and Exchange of Nanchang Normal University
NCNU attaches great importance to international cooperation and exchange, and the International Operation and Exchange Center has been set up to be responsible for the related affairs. NCNU has built relations and signed friendship cooperation agreements with 16 overseas universities and education institutes in the UK, Indonesia, New Zealand, Japan and Korea, etc. Our teachers and students continuously go overseas for academic exchange, exchange student program, short study course, culture tour and performance, photography exhibition, educational cooperation exchange and training, etc. 2019 saw a major breakthrough in international cooperation and exchange of NCNU. We jointly established the Confucius Institute with Udayana University, Indonesia and Nanchang University, China. This is the eighth Confucius Institute in Indonesia and the first one in Bali. Since its establishment, over 2,000 local students have learned Chinese language here. An increasing number of people begin to love Chinese and appreciate the charm of Chinese culture.
