About Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology (SIAT) of the Chinese Academy of Science (CAS)
In accordance with the overall strategic goal of building an innovative country and the outline of the national medium and long-term science and technology development plan of the Central Government, combined with the requirements of the restructuring of the scientific and technological layout of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and the implementation of the innovation-oriented city strategy in Shenzhen, the Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology was jointly established by CAS, Shenzhen Municipal People’s Government and The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) in February 2006, under the management of the Board of Governors, to explore the innovation of institutional mechanisms.
After years of development, SAI has built a micro collaborative innovation ecosystem integrating research, education, industry and capital, with nine institutes (Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Integrated Technology, Institute of Biomedical and Health Engineering, Institute of Advanced Computing and Digital Engineering, Institute of Biomedicine and Technology, Guangzhou Institute of Advanced Technology, Institute of Brain Cognition and Brain Diseases, Institute of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chinese University of Hong Kong). On November 16, 2018, the Shenzhen Municipal People’s Government and the Chinese Academy of Sciences signed the Agreement on Cooperation in Building the Shenzhen University of Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Shenzhen, relying on the Shenzhen Advanced Institute and the scientific research strength of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Guangdong to build the Shenzhen University of Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (tentative name, referred to as the Shenzhen University of Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences). in October 2019, the Guangdong Provincial Department of Education agreed to include it in the provincial university setting “On November 20, 2020, the launching meeting of the construction of CAS Shenzhen Polytechnic University was successfully held; the Bright Marina Pearl Campus was put into use in early 2021 as a transitional campus of the university. Shenzhen Advanced Institute will seize the opportunity of the construction of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and Socialism with Chinese Characteristics Advance Demonstration Zone, explore the innovation of institutional mechanism on the hot ground of reform, face the frontier of international science, prospectively layout strategic emerging industries, and promote the integration of science and education and innovation development in multiple directions.
