About Shenzhen Institute of Information Technology
Shenzhen Institute of Information Technology, founded in April 2002, is a full-time public institution of higher education approved by the People’s Government of Guangdong Province and recorded by the Ministry of Education and organized by the People’s Government of Shenzhen. The school insists on the philosophy of “Three Identicals”, which is always in the same direction with the Party’s education policy, always sharing the same fate with the cause of reform and opening up of the Special Administrative Region, and always resonating with the development of information technology, which vividly embodies the fundamental principles, driving force and laws of running colleges and universities in the Special Administrative Region.
The campus covers an area of 925,000 square meters (1,389 mu), with a construction area of 584,800 square meters. There are 1,358 faculty members, including 714 full-time teachers; there are 16 colleges, 2 departments and 2 institutes, including College of Software, College of Information and Communication, College of Microelectronics, College of Computer Science, College of Digital Media, College of Intelligent Manufacturing and Equipment, College of Transportation and Environment, College of Management, College of Finance and Economics, College of Applied Foreign Languages, Sino-German Robotics College (formerly Sino-German College), College of Marxism (Department of Ideological and Political Science), College of Continuing Education, and College of Business Administration. School of Marxism (Department of Theory and Politics), School of Continuing Education, School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Institute of Innovation Education, School of International Exchange and Cooperation (Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Office), Department of Public Education, Department of Physical Education, Institute of Information Technology, and Binhai Institute of Civil Engineering Technology. There are 47 information-based majors; the current full-time enrollment exceeds 20,000 students.

Deep integration of industry and education, with distinctive information characteristics. The school has set up Shenzhen Information Vocational Education Group, cooperated closely with Huawei, Tencent and other leading enterprises, established a dynamic adjustment mechanism of majors for the new generation of information technology, and fully connected with ICT industry in the dimensions of professional settings, faculty, student skills, teaching and research, internship and employment, and social services, etc. The school has been awarded as one of the top 50 teaching management, top 50 internship management and top 50 teaching resources in national higher education institutions. More than 70% of the school’s majors are closely aligned with the R&D, application and services of the information industry, and it is one of the higher vocational institutions with a relatively complete professional system for the new generation of information technology and national security strategy. In recent years, the school has established the first national-level “China Association of Vocational Education and Technology Education Microelectronics Technology Professional Committee” as the initiator and the first microelectronics secondary school in national higher education institutions. The university has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with eight enterprises, including Huawei, Shenzhen Information Service and 360, and established the “Cyberspace Security College”. It has also signed strategic cooperation agreements with eight enterprises, including Huawei, DeepInfo and 360, and established the “Cyberspace Security Academy”; cooperated with Huawei to hold the ICT Academy; and jointly built the “Artificial Intelligence Academy” with Tencent and Amazon.
The employment rate of school graduates exceeds 98%, and the number of students’ skill competition awards, high-end certificate acquisition rate and employment salary level all rank among the top in China. In the past five years, students won 36 awards in national and above competitions, and in 2018, the total number of first prizes in the National Vocational College Skills Competition ranked first in the province, and the first time to participate in the “Huawei Student ICT Competition 2018 Global Finals” won the only first prize in the network track.
The school has deep international cooperation and wide radiating influence. The university cooperates with the Bavarian state government of Germany to hold the Sino-German Academy to cultivate international general technical skills talents who can be employed in the European Union; it also cooperates with the government of Baoan District, the German Stäubli Foundation for Economic Promotion and the city government of Ulm, Germany to build the “Bay Area Sino-German Education and Economic Synergy Development Demonstration Base” (hereinafter referred to as the base), which takes The base takes international advanced technology transfer as the link and school-enterprise cooperation for education as the carrier, and creates a multi-linked cooperation model and system of education and economic synergistic development between China and Germany “government, university, industry, enterprise and capital”; it has recruited international students from “One Belt and One Road” countries and implemented the “Study Abroad” program.
