About The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou)
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou), or “HKUST (Guangzhou)” for short, is located in Nansha District, Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province, China. It is a joint venture between Guangzhou University and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. The aim is to provide academic education and to nurture international high-end talents with innovative capabilities to serve technological innovation, industrial upgrading and high-quality development in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
The proposed Guangzhou campus will not overlap the disciplines already offered by the HKUST Clearwater Bay campus, but will focus on more interdisciplinary themes that complement each other. The curriculum will be designed around the four pivotal positions of information, function, systems, and society, with research areas covering emerging and frontier areas such as data science, robotic and automated systems, artificial intelligence, and advanced materials.
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) has taken the lead in launching a pilot program at the Clearwater Bay campus in FY2019, enrolling 106 graduate students first to pilot the proposed curriculum and conduct research in related areas at HKUST (Guangzhou).
On September 26, 2019, GZ campus officially started construction. It is planned to be officially opened in September 2022.
Career
HKUST(GZ) now starts to invite applications or nominations for faculty and administration openings at all levels. Details on the ranks and number of positions available may change as the new campus develops. All open positions are Mainland China appointments to be offered by the HKUST(GZ), a Mainland entity, in accordance with the local employment laws and regulations. Appointments will be made on a fixed-term contract of up to three years, renewable subject to performance, mutual agreement and funding availability.
