About Wuxi University
Wuxi University is a public undergraduate university approved by the Ministry of Education, managed by the People’s Government of Jiangsu Province, organized by the People’s Government of Wuxi City and supported by Nanjing University of Information Engineering (NUIE). The university adheres to the direction of socialism, adheres to the philosophy of “putting students first and cultivating university spirit”, and has built a trinity system of Wuxi College, Wuxi Graduate School of NUIST and Wuxi Research Institute of NUIST.
The university is located at 333 Xishan Avenue, Wuxi, adjacent to the core area of Xidong New City, Wuxi High-speed Railway East Station and Sunan Shuofang International Airport, with excellent geographical location and beautiful scenery. The campus covers a total area of 1101 mu, with a total building area of 310,000 square meters. It is a modern intelligent campus, ecological campus, humanistic campus and low-carbon campus. There are 8440 undergraduates and 276 international students, and 350 postgraduates are jointly trained with Nanjing University of Information Engineering.
The university attaches great importance to the construction of faculty, with 532 full-time teachers, 40.4% of whom have senior titles and 48.3% of whom have doctoral degrees (among which more than 70% of the teachers of professional courses have senior titles or doctoral degrees). Among the full-time teachers, there are more than 60 high-level talents such as national special experts, provincial special professors, provincial “333” high-level talents, provincial “Youth and Blue Project” young and middle-aged academic leaders, and provincial double-innovation doctors.
The university has 14 teaching units, including College of Internet of Things Engineering, College of Computer Science, College of Electronic Information Engineering, College of Automation, College of Rail Transportation, College of Environmental Engineering, College of Atmospheric and Remote Sensing, College of Science, College of Business, College of Humanities and Law, College of Media and Arts, College of Marxism, College of International Education, Department of Physical Education, etc., 6 master’s programs (jointly cultivated with NUIST) and 42 undergraduate programs. There are 6 master’s programs (jointly cultivated with NUIST) and 42 undergraduate majors, covering seven disciplines, including science, engineering, literature, management, economics, law and art. The major of Internet of Things Engineering has been selected as a national first-class undergraduate major construction point, and three majors of financial engineering, electronic information engineering and automation have been selected as first-class undergraduate major construction points in Jiangsu universities.
The university pays attention to scientific research and constantly improves the level of scientific research, undertaking 251 scientific research projects at national, provincial, municipal and horizontal levels; publishing more than 1,000 high-quality scientific research papers; having “Jiangsu Province Internet of Things Equipment Superconvergence Application and Security Engineering Research Center”, “Jiangsu Province Jiangsu Province” and “Industrial Environmental Hazard Monitoring and Assessment Engineering Research Center” are two provincial scientific research platforms.
The university continues to deepen the integration of industry and education, and has built more than 100 internship training bases, signed talent training cooperation agreements with more than 80 large enterprises and institutions, built Huawei ICT Academy, cyberspace security training base, Jin Kui Innovation and Entrepreneurship Practice Education Center, Xitai College and other 7 entities of industry-education integration. Among them, Jin Kui Innovation and Entrepreneurship Practice Education Center is the construction point of provincial college students’ innovation and entrepreneurship practice education center; Jiangsu Province Cyberspace Security Training Base has been built as the first comprehensive, demonstration and application cyberspace security training base in Jiangsu Province and the first one in prefecture-level cities in China, which integrates teaching and training, emergency exercises and popularization of science.
The school takes “skillful, elite and international” talent training as the guide and builds a distinctive talent training system. In the past three years, the school has won nearly 500 awards in national and provincial innovation and entrepreneurship and academic competitions such as Challenge Cup and Internet+. The student union of the university is a member of the 27th Presidium of the National Federation of Students (one of the two universities in Jiangsu). In recent years, the school’s graduates have been admitted to 20% of the master’s degree programs and 15% of the master’s degree programs. The university has signed cooperation agreements with universities in the United States, the United Kingdom and other countries, as well as universities in Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, and some of the best students have been accepted by the University of California, the University of Sheffield, the University of Sydney and other famous foreign universities for postgraduate studies. The school has trained more than 40,000 graduates, and the high quality employment rate of graduates has been maintained at over 95%. A large number of students have been admitted to the national civil service, or employed by the world’s top 500 enterprises, large state-owned enterprises and institutions, and the quality of graduates has been well received by all walks of life, and a large number of outstanding alumni have emerged.
