Introduction

Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS) is one of the prestigious universities in Canton, China which specializes in international studies and educates professionals for international business and management.

The School of Journalism and Communication at GDUFS was founded in 2005 and emerged out of the International Journalism program offered to students majoring in English. Since the School’s establishment, teaching journalism in English has been a major concept. Our goal is to develop into an influential base for teaching and research in international communication throughout the country, particularly in South China. After 10 years of development, we now offer 4 undergraduate majors (Journalism, Advertising, Broadcasting and Hosting, and Internet and New Media) and 2 MA programs in Journalism and Communication, Cultural Communication and Media. We not only have excelled at academic research, but also have provided services to governments and various other organizations. Our 100% employment rate of graduates ranks at the top among China’s journalism schools.

Teachers in our school are undertaking 17 projects of national social sciences, over 30 provincial and ministerial research programs, and dozens of programs sponsored by governments, enterprises and institutions. They have published more than 40 monographs, 20 translated books, 10 textbooks and hundreds of high quality papers.  The school’s staff includes 14 professors and 12 associate professors, 27 doctoral and master tutors, 33 teachers with doctoral degrees, 6 who are pursuing doctor’s degrees and 4 full-time foreign teachers. Three-quarters of the teaching staff possess overseas study experience, while 30% have obtained their degrees from abroad, and 30% can conduct all-English instruction. We have established academic exchange and cooperation programs for both undergraduates and postgraduates with over 10 universities in the UK, USA, Australia, Taiwan and Hong Kong.

Duties：

1. The appointee will teach digital media production, interactive media design, or media innovation & entrepreneurship.

2.  S/he is expected to supervise students to run digital media projects and participate in innovation & entrepreneurship contests.

Requirements:

• Have relevant training and/or experience in digital media production, interactive media design, or media innovation & entrepreneurial journalism.
• Candidates with experiences of creating media startups or innovative intrapreneurial projects will be preferred.

Remuneration Package:

Standard of Salary

Associate Professor, RMB 11,000-RMB13,000 /month;

Professor RMB 13,000-RMB 18,000 /month;

Well-known Scholar RMB 18,000-RMB 23,000 /month

Free Accommodation

We provide free accommodation on campus for the long-term foreign teachers

(Fees of electricity, gas and toll call should be paid by individuals.)

Insurance & Medical Care

Long-term foreign teachers will entitle to public medical care the same as the other faculty members of the school. Besides, we take out the insurance for sever diseases, hospitalization and accidental injury for the foreign teachers under 65 during their working period in the university.

Flight Subsidy (paid monthly, inclusive of salary)

America and Canada:

America RMB 1,100 / month;

Canada RMB1,200 /month

Western Europe: RMB 1,200 / month
