NYU Shanghai is currently inviting applications for a position at the rank of Clinical Assistant Arts Professor in Theater. The appointment is made initially for three years, renewable, subject to mutual agreement.
Terms of employment at NYU Shanghai are comparable to NYU New York and other U.S. institutions.
Qualifications
We seek an educator whose work is located in both practice and scholarship to join our rapidly growing performing arts program. Candidates with a terminal degree, substantial record of professional accomplishments in the field, and a minimum of two years teaching at University level are eligible to apply. Preference will be given to individuals with four or more years teaching experience. The ideal candidate will be able to teach practice-based classes that prepare students for a broad range of performance contexts. All courses will be geared to advance the practice and scholarship of students across a broad spectrum of academic and creative interests. Students will have a wide range of experience levels: they may have an extensive theater background, may be taking their first performance class, or may be any place in between. We are seeking a faculty member who will activate this new position to open and expand our students’ understanding and engagement with the field of theater and the performing arts.
