Introduction:
Shantou University is a public Chinese university that receives additional support from the Li Ka Shing Foundation, and it is aggressively internationalizing its program and expanding its English-medium course offerings. STU’s English Language Center provides English language instruction for all of the university’s students, and offers a pioneering program of language instruction that emphasizes not only practical language proficiency, but also critical thinking skills, intercultural competence, and sustainable independent language learning. The ELC seeks candidates to teach English skill courses at a variety of levels, from low intermediate to advanced, and to assist with the ELC’s rich program of co-curricular activities. Qualifications:
Instructors: Candidates for instructor positions should have an MA degree in TEFL or a related subject area; preference will be given to candidates with teaching experience.
Lecturers: Candidates for lecturer positions should have an MA degree in TEFL or a related subject area and three or more years’ full-time post-degree teaching experience at tertiary level. Preference is given to candidates who have experience in curriculum development, materials development, teacher training, and/or leading teaching teams.
Associate Professors: Candidates for associate professor positions should have a doctorate in TEFL or a related subject area and relevant teaching experience. Preference is given to candidates who have experience in research and publication and are able to assist other faculty with research projects.
For all positions, preference will be given to candidates who have experience learning foreign languages and/or living in foreign cultures.
