King’s College London (King’s) and the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) are establishing a Joint Education Institute (JEI) – the Southern University of Science and Technology – King’s College London Joint School of Medicine – based in Shenzhen, China. Bringing together two leading institutions in higher education, this exciting partnership will integrate King’s historic academic excellence and SUSTech’s thriving and innovative approach to higher education to deliver an outstanding opportunity to establish a world-class centre of medical education, healthcare and cutting-edge research.
King’s is now seeking to appoint an Executive Dean of the JEI who will play a very significant role in shaping and leading the early and continued development of the Institute and its programmes. Providing the highest level of strategic planning and coordination, the Executive Dean will promote excellence in teaching and research. They will work collaboratively across key stakeholders in London and Shenzhen, and develop strong external relationships with, for example, Shenzhen’s healthcare providers to ensure that students receive a high-quality education, and that translational medicine works to the best effect.
The successful candidate will possess exceptional leadership ability and a deep understanding of the key issues in developing a world-class medical school. With a successful track record of senior management in an analogous context within a world-leading institution, applicants are likely to be clinically qualified and have considerable academic, educational and personal credibility within medicine and the biosciences.
