Established in 1960, Huaqiao University (HQU) is one of China’s renowned institutions of higher education. With its two campuses strategically located in two famous hometowns of overseas Chinese, Xiamen and Quanzhou in Fujian province, HQU is a national key comprehensive university directly affiliated to the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China.

Consisting of a graduate school, 31 colleges, 140 research institutes and centers, 21 doctoral programs, 111 master’s programs, 20 professional master’s programs and 94 undergraduate programs, the university offers 12 discipline categories, namely Philosophy, Economics, Law, Education, Literature, History, Science, Engineering, Agriculture, Medicine, Management and Arts, forming a coordinately developed discipline system that combines arts with science, integrates science with engineering, and couples engineering with management. Currently, HQU boasts 41 of national, ministerial and provincial key disciplines. With 4,627 overseas students from over 50 countries or regions including Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, the university has become one of the universities with the largest number of overseas students in China. I. Vacancies

II. Qualifications

2.1 Basic Qualifications

Applicants are expected to be disciplined, honest, responsible, physically and psychologically healthy and dedicated to work.

2.2 Specific Qualifications

2.2.1 First Level

Applicants shall be academicians of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), academicians of Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), top-notch talents of the State Special Support Plan, or talents from home and abroad of the same level.

2.2.2 Second Level

Applicants shall be valid candidates of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), leading talents of the State Special Support Plan, Distinguished Professors of Chang Jiang Scholars, winners of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, selected candidates of long-term state-level talent projects like the Thousand Talents Plan, first persons in charge of national key disciplines or key laboratories, chief scientists of major national projects, winners of the National Science and Technology Award (ranking first), first-prize winners (ranking first) of the Social Science Achievement Award for Higher Education of the Ministry of Education.

Or applicants shall be professors from prestigious universities and research institutes at home and abroad and have published at least one full academic paper in Nature, Science or Cell as the first author or the first corresponding author in the past five years, or have published at least two full academic papers on Social Sciences In China; or experts who take important positions in international academic institutions, or renowned and influential scholars with important academic achievements acknowledged at home and abroad.

Applicants shall be no more than 55 years old.

2.2.3 Third Level

Applicants shall be state-level selected candidates of the Hundred, Thousand and Ten Thousand Talents Plan, top-notch young talents of the State Special Support Plan, or selected candidates of the Innovative Talents Promotion Plan of the Ministry of Science and Technology, the New Century Excellent Talents Supporting Project of the Ministry of Education, the National Science Foundation for Excellent Youth, the state-level Thousand Youth Talents Plan, the Young Project of Chang Jiang Scholars Program, or the National Outstanding Young Talents.

Or applicants shall be professors from prestigious domestic universities or associate professors from renowned universities abroad and have hosted national major projects in the past five years, or have won the first prize (ranking first) of ministerial and provincial science and technology award, or the second prize (ranking first) of the Social Science Achievement Award for Higher Education of the Ministry of Education, or the first prize (ranking first) of provincial social science excellent achievement award, or have published one full academic paper in Nature, Science, Cell or Social Sciences In China as the first author or the first corresponding author, or at least two full academic papers in the journals of Nature, Science or Cell publishing groups, or at least six academic papers on materials and chemistry in international first-tier journals with impact factor (IF) over 10, or at least ten full academic papers of physics, optics and biomedicine in journals in the first zone of JCR-SCI recognized as SCI TOP, or at least eight papers on mechanics and chemical engineering, at least six papers of other disciplines (the impact factors are subject to the JCR data released by the National Science Library of the Chinese Academy of Sciences that year, hereinafter inclusive), or at least seven academic papers in journals at the first level in HQU’s classification of papers on humanities and social sciences, or three outstanding achievements in national research project, provincial talents project, high level papers in his/her discipline or ministerial or provincial teaching or research awards.

Applicants shall be no more than 45 years old.

2.2.4 Fourth Level

Applicants shall be young talents who display the potential to be selected into high-level young talents projects like the National Science Foundation for Excellent Youth, the Thousand Youth Talents Plan, the Youth Project of Chang Jiang Scholars Program and National Outstanding Young Talent. Talents who are candidates of the above national youth projects shall be directly recruited.

Or applicants shall be associate professors or above from domestic renowned universities with academic achievements exceeding HQU’s requirements for exceptional promotion to professor (if the associate professor has served for more than 5 years, his or her performance of the past five years shall be mainly assessed). For applicants from abroad, his/her papers and works and representative achievements in his/her own academic field in the past five years shall be submitted for assessment; in principle, he/she shall have published papers that’s equivalent to 1.5 times of HQU’s requirements for exceptional promotion to professor, or have published one full academic paper in journals of the Nature, Science or Cell publishing groups with impact factor (IF) over 20 as the first author or the first corresponding author in the past five years, or seven papers on SCI TOP journals as the first author or the first corresponding author in the past five years.

Applicants shall be no more than 40 years old.

3.2 Working and Living Supports

3.2.1 Office, laboratory and related equipment shall be furnished.

3.2.2 The second and third level talents recruited can be directly appointed as doctoral supervisor in the presence of a corresponding doctoral program and recommended to apply for the HQU Science and Technology Innovation Team, Support Plan for Leading Talents, or Cultivation Plan for Philosophy and Social Science Academic Innovation Team. The fourth level talents who meet the HQU requirements for supervisors shall be recommended and appointed as doctoral or master supervisors.

3.2.3 Temporary housing (or rent subsidies) shall be provided in prior to housing subsidies.

3.2.4 HQU shall also help with the job arrangement of the spouse as well as their children’s schooling.
