The University of Leicester is seeking to employ a Lecturer in Computational Chemistry to be based at the Leicester International Institute (DLI) on the Panjin campus of Dalian University of Technology in China. This appointment is one of three new posts in the Institute.

DLI was jointly established by the University of Leicester and Dalian University of Technology in 2017. It has undergraduate degree programmes in Chemistry, Mathematics and Mechanical Engineering, with 1000 students in total. You will undertake teaching, research and administrative duties based at DLI. You will be responsible for the development and delivery of undergraduate teaching alongside colleagues based in the UK, who will make frequent trips to the DLI to teach. You will ensure the very best learning experience for the students, whilst supporting the DLI to enhance its international reputation.  You will also establish a sound scientific research base of high quality, making an impact at the international level. Research relevant to energy and environmental issues will be encouraged.

As an institution committed to the welfare of it’s staff, you will receive free accommodation during your time in China, full support when applying for your work permit and when dealing with the Chinese tax and social insurance authorities. Health insurance will also be provided.

About you

With a PhD in a relevant area, you should have a strong research track record in computational chemistry. Previous experience in teaching would be an advantage. The teaching medium of the DLI is English so the ability to read and speak Chinese is not required but would be useful. We are looking for independent starters who have a passion for research and teaching, motivated by providing the very best experience to our students and becoming an internationally leading researcher in your field.
