Under the leadership of Professor Wang Yanan, a former Xiamen University President and the Chinese translator of Karl Marx’s Das Kapital, the School of Economics at Xiamen University has been one of the top programs in China since 1950s. In 2005, to further develop and promote modern economics, Xiamen University established an internationalized research institute – the Wang Yanan Institute for Studies in Economics (WISE). In 2016, Gregory and Paula Chow Center for Economic Research was founded with the aim to build a world-renowned research center on modern economics and the Chinese economy.
The main missions of WISE and the School of Economics are high-quality graduate training, frontier research, and intensive international academic exchange and collaboration. Having successfully recruited about 100 faculty members from abroad in the past few years, WISE and the School of Economics still have several faculty positions available in all areas of economics, finance and statistics at all ranks.
