Huainan Normal University is a full-time undergraduate university located in Anhui Province, China.
Key Milestones and History
The university was founded in 1958 and, after a period of suspension, was re-established in 1978. In 1999, it merged with Huainan Education College and Huainan Normal School. In 2000, it was officially upgraded to a university by the Ministry of Education. The university passed a teaching quality assessment in 2007 and was approved to construct a provincial-level master’s degree program in 2009. By 2021, two of its majors, English and Biology, were included in the first batch of undergraduate enrollments.
Academics and Campus
The university has two campuses, covering a total area of 778,000 square meters. It boasts a rich collection of teaching and research instruments valued at 259 million RMB. The library holds 1.43 million physical books and 1.78 million electronic books. It is comprised of 15 schools, offering 55 undergraduate majors to over 20,000 full-time students. Twenty of these majors are now part of the first-batch enrollment, including nine teacher training programs and eleven non-teacher training programs.
Faculty and International Relations
The university has a strong faculty of over 1,200 staff, with 998 full-time teachers. Of these, 338 hold senior professional titles, and 852 have master’s or doctoral degrees. The faculty includes a number of provincial and national-level distinguished teachers. The university has also established a growing number of exchange programs with universities and educational institutions in the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Germany, France, South Korea, Singapore, the Philippines, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.
