Overview and History
Fujian Polytechnic Normal University or FPNU was founded in 1977 by the People’s Government of Fujian Province. It originated as the Fuqing Branch of Fujian Normal University. The university has two main campuses: Wumashan Campus and Shizhushan Campus. The university’s official motto is “Virtue in Action, Perseverance in Truth.”
Academics and Research
FPNU is composed of 12 schools and offers 30 bachelor’s degree programs and one master’s program. Some of its undergraduate programs have been recognized at the provincial level, including Food Science & Engineering, Environmental Engineering, International Economics & Trade, and Packaging Engineering. The university’s Packaging Engineering program was nationally recognized, ranking first among applied undergraduate programs in China in a 2024 survey by the Alumni Association.
The university has over 700 full-time teachers, with nearly 300 holding doctoral degrees. FPNU has established over 20 provincial and municipal research platforms and has undertaken hundreds of research projects and commissioned projects for government and industry.
Student and Faculty Data
The university has an enrollment of nearly 9,000 undergraduate students. Data from 2018 shows a graduate employment rate of 98.69% for that year. At the time, the average monthly income for new graduates was 3,941 yuan, and 19.61% of graduates were admitted to undergraduate degree programs.
International Connections
FPNU is the only university in the Chinese zone of the China-Indonesia “Two Countries, Twin Parks” project. This collaboration is designed to support the Belt and Road Initiative, leveraging the university’s overseas connections.
