Shandong Jianzhu University (SDJZU) has steadily advanced internationalization in faculty building and academic cooperation, with concrete progress supported by verifiable data and projects.
I. Internationalized Faculty
SDJZU has constructed a faculty team with global perspectives through talent recruitment and capacity development:
International Distinguished Experts: The Institute of Resources and Environment Innovation is led by Prof. Chen Feiyong, a Foreign Member of the Japan Academy of Engineering. The institute gathers over 50 faculty members, including 2 Foreign Members of the Japan Academy of Engineering and 6 experts with provincial or higher talent titles . These international scholars lead research in fields like the Yellow River Basin ecological governance.
Foreign Teachers and Overseas-trained Staff: The School of Foreign Languages employs 6 full-time foreign teachers (specializing in English and German) and has over 60 faculty members with overseas study experience . Previously, it has also hired 7-8 foreign teachers annually . Across the university, the doctoral degree rate of full-time teachers reaches 61.75% , many of whom have international academic backgrounds.
II. International Academic Exchanges
SDJZU has established substantive cooperation with institutions worldwide, focusing on joint education and research collaboration:
Sino-foreign Cooperative Education Programs:
- It runs undergraduate joint programs with overseas universities, including:
- Architecture program with Unitec Institute of Technology (New Zealand) ;
- Engineering Management program with North Dakota State University (USA) ;
- Environmental Design program with Leeds Beckett University (UK), which has admitted cohorts since 2018.
International Research Platforms and Collaboration:
- It hosts provincial-level platforms like the “International Joint Laboratory of Low-Carbon and Water-Health Environmental Technology” , and partners with the University of Tokyo, Tokyo Institute of Technology, and others on graduate training and research .
- In September 2025, it co-hosted the 2nd International Symposium on New Energy Vehicle Technology Innovation, attracting experts from Hungary, Saudi Arabia, Sweden, etc., and securing 4 cooperation agreements .
Academic Visits and Forums
- Scholars from partner universities regularly give lectures. For example, Lisa Stansbie and Chris Harris from Leeds Beckett University (UK) have delivered academic reports at SDJZU .
