Shanghai Zhongqiao Vocational and Technical University (SHZQU) is a private, non-profit institution located in Shanghai, China.
- Established: Founded in 1993, and officially adopted its current name in 2020 after being upgraded to a vocational undergraduate university in 2019.
- Programs and Enrollment: The university currently has over 15,000 enrolled students and offers 22 undergraduate and 24 vocational programs across nine specialized schools. These programs cover disciplines such as information engineering, intelligent manufacturing, food and pharmacy, and economics and management.
- Accolades: SHZQU is a key institution in China’s vocational education reform. It is the only university in Shanghai selected for the national pilot program for undergraduate-level vocational education. In the 2024 Shanghai classification rankings, it was ranked 7th citywide.
- Industry Integration: The university has established partnerships with 245 enterprises and maintains 153 joint training bases, collaborating with industry leaders such as China Baowu Steel Group, Tencent, and Huawei.
- Employment Rate: SHZQU has reported an employment rate above 98% for over a decade, with 100% employment for undergraduates in the past two years.

This includes recruiting international faculty, such as English lecturers, to support bilingual/English-medium instruction, particularly within Sino-foreign cooperative programs.
- Sino-Finnish Program: A notable example is the Helsinki School of Future Engineering (Sino-Finnish program), a cooperation with Metropolia University of Applied Sciences, Finland’s largest applied sciences university. This program aims to cultivate globally oriented professionals, requiring international faculty with relevant master’s degrees and experience.
International Exchange and Cooperation
- Global Partnerships: SHZQU partners with nearly 20 institutions across countries including Finland, Germany, and Japan.
- Accreditation: The university’s commitment to quality assurance was recognized in 2023 when it received accreditation from ACQUIN (Accreditation, Certification and Quality Assurance Institute) in Germany.
- Student Mobility: Approximately 100 students participate in overseas study or exchange programs annually. The university has historically sent over 500 students abroad for short-term exchange, study practice, and degree study.
- Exchange Activities: The university regularly hosts international exchange events, such as the Sino-German Summer Camp and the DHBW Summer Camp, demonstrating active collaboration with its partners like Germany’s DHBW (Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University).
