About School of Foreign Languages, Yan’an University
Yan’an University is the first comprehensive university established by the Communist Party of China. It is currently a key university jointly supported by the Shaanxi Provincial People’s Government and the Ministry of Education, a high-level development university in Shaanxi Province, an institution for first-tier enrollment in Shaanxi, a recommended institution for outstanding undergraduates to pursue master’s degrees without entrance exams, and a local specialized training institution under the “Outstanding Teacher Program.”
The university spans over 2,800 acres across three campuses (Xin cheng, Yang jia ling, and Cui yuan) with a total building area of million square meters. We have over 21,000 students and a faculty and staff of more than 1,900. The university comprises 16 secondary schools, one independent college, and affiliated hospitals. We offer 1 doctoral program (first-level discipline), 18 master’s programs (first-level disciplines), 60 undergraduate majors, 12 national-level first-class undergraduate programs, 30 provincial/ministerial-level research platforms, and 20 provincial/ministerial-level innovation teams.
The School of Foreign Languages currently offers:
- One academic Master’s program in Foreign Linguistics and Applied Linguistics.
- One professional Master’s program in Curriculum and Teaching (English).
- Three undergraduate majors: English (Teacher Education), Japanese, and Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages.
- The English (Teacher Education) major is recognized as a provincial first-class and featured program.
To meet the demands of the university’s development and talent acquisition, the School of Foreign Languages is actively recruiting outstanding talent from home and abroad for 2025. Details regarding recruitment requirements and benefits are outlined below:
I. Recruiting Disciplines and Specializations
We welcome applications from outstanding Ph.D. holders, post-doctoral fellows, and high-level talents with an English professional background in the following disciplines: Foreign Languages and Literatures and related disciplines (Chinese Language and Literature, Education, Area Studies, World History, Philosophy, Journalism and Communication).
II. Basic Recruitment Requirements
- Degree and Age: Applicants must have obtained a doctoral degree by December 31, 2025. Young doctoral talent should generally be under 40 years of age (born after January 1, 1985); exceptions may be made for exceptionally outstanding candidates.
- Educational Background: Applicants must have had study experience in English or a related major at the undergraduate or master’s level.
- Core Qualities: Candidates must be passionate about the field of education, adhere to academic norms, possess high-level academic competence, strong research and teaching abilities, and be capable of fulfilling the demands of the position.
- Overseas Degrees: For degrees obtained overseas, candidates must submit the degree certificate and graduation certificate by December 31, 2025. Returnees must also provide the Certificate of Overseas Academic Degree Recognition issued by the Ministry of Education’s Service Center for Scholarly Exchange (CSCSE).
III. Benefits and Compensation
- We offer highly competitive salary and benefits (including base salary, position allowance, year-end performance bonuses), research start-up funds, housing support, assistance with children’s schooling. Specific benefits are negotiable on a case-by-case basis (“one person, one discussion”).
- Doctoral recruits will receive the performance-based salary equivalent to a Level-3 Associate Professor for three years and may be directly appointed to an Associate Professor position if they meet the criteria. Additional subsidies are provided for candidates with post-doctoral experience or those holding an Associate Professor title or higher.
- We provide a free on-campus transition apartment for one year (utilities and property management fees are the responsibility of the resident) or a two-year rental subsidy. (Couples both recruited as Ph.D.s are eligible for one set of housing benefits.)
- The university will properly assist with the enrollment of children in preschool and compulsory education.
- Recruits will be managed under the public-sector employment system in accordance with the relevant policies of Shaanxi Province for the current year.
- Candidates invited for the on-site teaching demonstration will be provided with accommodation and have their round-trip transportation expenses reimbursed.
