About NWPU

Northwestern Polytechnical University (NWPU), subordinates to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and it is the only multidisciplinary and research-oriented university in China that is simultaneously developing education and research programs in the fields of aeronautics, astronautics, and marine technology engineering. NWPU has been a national top university for over a half century. It was one of the first universities in the Chinese 211 Program started in1995 and the 985 Program started in 2001. NWPU was among the universities which were first selected to be the National “Double First-Cass” University program (Class A) in 2017.

About Taicang Campus

The Taicang campus of NWPU is in Taicang, a county city under the administration of Suzhou City of Jiangsu Province. The economy of Taicang is among the top 100 county cities in China. It is known as one of the most valuable entrepreneurial paradises in the region of Yangtze River Delta and one of the cities with the best development vitality and potential. The Taicang campus covers an area of 260 acres. The University sees it as a new development pole in the Yangtze River Delta. The campus is 45 kilometers away from Shanghai Hongqiao Airport, and is adjacent to Baoshan District and Jiading District of Shanghai, and it can reach the highly developed cities of Nanjing, Suzhou, Hangzhou and Wuxi, etc. within about an hour time.

About School of Software

Founded in December of 2001, the School of Software of NWPU (hereinafter referred to as “the School”) was one of the first 35 National Pilot Software Schools authorized by the Ministry of Education and the National Development and Reform Commission. In 2012, Software Engineering was offered as a doctoral program at NPU. To serve the needs of the national strategic development and the increasing for demands of software professionals from the ever-changing software industry, the School aims to cultivate talents who carry out NPU’s mission and strive for excellence through “a solid foundation, internationalization and engineering-orientation”. That is, students are expected to grow a sense of national identity and pride, develop an international vision and embrace innovation, and devote themselves to the autonomous development of fundamental software in national defense and industrial software as well as the rapid development of regional economy and other related fields. Disciplines

Software Engineering, Computer Science and Technology, Artificial Intelligence, Computing Mathematics, Operational Research and Cybernetics, or other related disciplines.

1) High-Level Positions (With National Titles of Talents)

a) Qualifications:

· An applicant is required to hold doctorate of world-class universities with a high professional title, equivalent to a professor or an associate professor.

· An applicant should have a good record of high-quality research and innovation in a thematic area of the School, good potential to conduct research of high impact, good communication skills, strong leadership in research and teaching organization.

b) Salary, benefits, and entitlements:

· A successful applicant will be appointed to a position of professor and PhD supervisor, provided with 1 or 2 post-doctoral research assistants.

· Annual basic salaries (pre-tax): 550,000 RMB

· Living Subsidies: up to 500, 000 RMB.

· Housing: an apartment in Taicang free of charge for a fixed period of time.

· Working condition: Laboratory, facilities, and start-up funding will be negotiated case by case.

· Other benefits: insurance, medical care, schools of children in Taicang, etc. will be provided according to the relevant policies and regulations.

2) Distinguished Young Scholars

i. Qualifications:

· An Applicant is required to hold doctorate of world-class universities and have over 3 consecutive years academic working experiences in overseas renowned institutions. An applicant should still be in overseas or return to China working no more than 1 year.

· An Applicant should have a good record of high-quality research and innovation in a thematic area of the School, good potential to conduct research of high impact, good communication skills, strong leadership in research and teaching organization.

ii. Salary, benefits, and entitlements:

· A successful applicant will be appointed to a position of professor (non-tenure) and master student supervisor according to relevant policies.

· Annual basic salaries (pre-tax): 450,000 RMB～500,000 RMB.

· Housing: an apartment in Taicang free of charge for a fixed period of time.

· Working condition: Laboratory, facilities, and a start-up funding of 1000,000 RMB.

· Other benefits: insurance, medical care, schools of children in Taicang, etc. will be provided according to the relevant policies and regulations.

3) Professors/Associate Professors/Assistant Professors

i. Qualifications:

· To become a professor, associate professor, or assistant professor of the School, an Applicant should hold doctorate of world-class universities, and be under the age of 40, 35, or 32 respectively.

· An Applicant should have a good record of high-quality research and innovation in a thematic area of the School, good potential to conduct research of high impact, good communication skills, strong leadership in research and teaching organization.

ii. Salary, benefits, and entitlements:

a. For Professors applicants

· Annual basic salaries (pre-tax): 400,000 RMB.

· Working condition: Laboratory, facilities, and a start-up funding of 300,000 RMB and a resettlement allowance (pre-tax) of 300,000 RMB.

b. For Associate Professors applicants

· Annual basic salaries (pre-tax): 300,000 RMB.

· Working condition: Laboratory, facilities, and a start-up funding of 300,000 RMB and a resettlement allowance (pre-tax) of 300,000 RMB.

c. For Assistant Professors applicants

· Annual basic salaries (pre-tax): 260,000 RMB.

· Working condition: Laboratory, facilities, and a start-up funding of 250,000 RMB and a resettlement allowance (pre-tax) of 200,000 RMB.

d. For Professors/Associate Professors/Assistant Professors applicants

· Housing: an apartment in Taicang free of charge for a fixed period of time.

· Other benefits: insurance, medical care, schools of children in Taicang, etc. will be provided according to the relevant policies and regulations.

4) Post-doctoral Researcher Fellows

i. Qualifications:

· An applicant should hold doctorate in domestic and abroad within 3 years and be under the age of 35.

ii. Salary, benefits, and entitlements:

· Annual basic salaries of 200,000 ～240,000 RMB.

· Housing: an apartment in Taicang free of charge for a fixed period of time.

· Other benefits: insurance, medical care, schools of children in Taicang, etc. will be provided according to the relevant policies and regulations.
