Job Description & Qualification

Peking University School of Transnational Law (“STL”) invites applications for tenure-track and tenured faculty positions from highly qualified individuals.

Peking University is one of the world’s leading research universities, ranked 13th by the Times Higher Education and 14th by the QS World University Rankings.

STL, established in 2008, has nearly 1,500 graduates, many of whom now serve in leadership positions in global law firms, international organizations, multinational enterprises, state-owned enterprises and government.

STL is the only law school in the world to offer an integrated dual degree program that includes an American Law J.D., taught in English, and a China law Juris Master (J.M.), taught largely in Chinese.

STL is continuing to build its capacity as a center of research excellence for all aspects of transnational law and legal practice. STL is located on Peking University’s Shenzhen Campus, minutes from Hong Kong. Shenzhen, which is widely recognized as a global technology center with enviable quality of life and the leading hub for technological innovation and internationalization in mainland China, is home to such giants of innovation as Tencent, Huawei, BGI, Ping An, BYD and DJI Drones.

Opportunities for tenure-track and tenured appointments extend to a wide range of subjects, including much of the first-year J.D. curriculum (such as Business Associations, U.S. Civil Procedure, Contracts, Criminal Law, Property and Torts) as well as upper-level courses with comparative components (including, as illustrative examples, international business transactions and environmental law). Scholars working in the areas of law and technology, artificial intelligence, intellectual property, and all areas of business law and cross-border deal-making, as well as scholars with significant experience teaching required first-year JD courses, are particularly encouraged to apply.
