Faculty Positions at the Institute of Translational Medicine, Tianjin Union Medical Center of Nankai University

The Institute of Translational Medicine, Tianjin Union Medical Center of Nankai University (Hereinafter referred to as “the Institute”), was founded jointly by Nankai University and Tianjin Union Medical Center as an important achievement under Nankai University’s “4211 Pursuing Excellence” Plan to deepen the coordinated development of clinical medicine and medical education.Nankai University is a key comprehensive university directly under the jurisdiction of China’s Ministry of Education, and is among the 42 “Double First-class Initiative” universities, as well as the 36 A-level universities in China.Tianjin Union Medical Center of Nankai University, as one of five medical centers in Tianjin, is a modernized and large-scale comprehensive Tier 3A hospital. It has 82 clinical and technical departments, with a licensed bed capacity of 1,800 and a floor area of 186,000 m^2.

To combine the clinical resources of Tianjin Union Medical Center, particularly for gastrointestinal diseases, and the basic research strength of Nankai University in immunology, microbiology, oncology, neurophysiology, food nutriology, epidemiology and artificial intelligence, the Institute aims to establish six research centers and recruit principal investigators accordingly. During the initiation phase, the Institute will first establish four research centers focusing on gastrointestinal cancer and neurophysiology, pathology and molecular diagnosis of gastrointestinal diseases, gut microbiota and immunology, cancer stem cell targeted therapy and nutrition. Subsequently, the Institute will continue to establish the Research Center for Medical Artificial Intelligence and the Center for Precision Medicine. Now, the Institute would like to invite scientists to develop vigorous research programs mentioned above.

Chair Professor and Research Professor: Gastrointestinal diseases and nutrition, pathology, clinical immunology, the relationship between human gut microbiome and diseases.

3. Stipend & Benefits

The Institute will provide state-of-the-art facilities equipped with the latest technology for cutting-edge research. Qualified applicants will be co-hired as professor by Tianjin Union Medical Center of Nankai University and the School of Medicine, Nankai University. Clinical positions will be provided by Tianjin Union Medical Center for clinical leaders.

Successful applicants will be offered an annual salary of 1,000,000-1,500,000 RMB (pre-tax), research fund of 5,000,000-10,000,000 RMB, and will be nominated as doctoral supervisor by Nankai University. The enrollment of at least one doctoral and one master student every year will be ensured. In addition, a research assistant will be provided.

Meanwhile, the Institute will also help qualified applicants to apply for additional support, such as the “Haihe” Talent Plan, and will jointly provide corresponding support such as allowance, scientific research fund as well as laboratory and office.
