About Company:NENU (Northeast Normal University) is an institution of higher education under the direct administration of the Ministry of Education in China, carries the National Key University designation and being selected as one of the universities given priority in the construction of the “211 Project”. NENU ranks the second in Jilin Province of China, and remains in top 40 among over 2,000 universities and colleges in the whole China. NENU specializes in training teachers, as the top university to train teachers in northeast part of China, while we have 23 schools and faculties covering comprehensive different academic areas. Having successfully recruited about 50 faculty members from abroad in the past few years, NENU still have several faculty positions for international talents available.
Job Profile:In fall 2014, Rutgers University Newark entered into an Agreement with Northeast Normal University, one of the top ranked Chinese universities directly administered by the Chinese Ministry of Education (MOE), to establish the “Rutgers University Newark Institute at Northeast Normal University” (RUNIN) program on the campus of Northeast Normal University in Changchun China. The Agreement received formal approval in spring 2015 from the Chinese Ministry of Education and the program was officially launched on the 1st of September, 2015. This agreement was renewed in March 2024. Under the renewed Agreement, Rutgers University Newark offers two Bachelor Degree programs including Bachelor of Science Degree programs in Supply Chain Management and in Finance through Rutgers Business School (RBS). All courses required for the completion of these two degree programs are taught in English by the faculty members approved or assigned by Faculty of Arts and Sciences of Newark (FASN) and Rutgers Business School (RBS), as well as the faculty members of RUNIN. Implementing the educational philosophy of “rooted in Northeast Normal University and oriented to the world,” RUNIN adheres to the teaching quality standards of “high starting point, high requirements, and high level,” utilizing teaching resources from world-class universities, adopting internationally advanced teaching and management models, creating a superior bilingual learning environment and integration of Chinese and foreign cultures, aiming to cultivate international professionals who can serve China’s modernization construction, possess an international vision, understand international rules and participate in international affairs and competition with the qualities of “HOPE-Honesty, Optimism, Perspicacity and Erudition.” Currently, the Institute offers programs in Supply Chain Management and Finance which are two top-ranked majors of Rutgers University.
Job Details:
RUNIN is seeking Academic English instructors to teach the following courses in the 2024-2025 academic year:
- Composition I
- Composition II
These courses are taught to first year undergraduates at the Jingyue campus in Changchun. Each course is 48 contact hours, with sections scheduled as three contact hours per week for 16 weeks. Maximum course load is 20 contact hours per week.
Instructors are expected to use appropriate teaching strategies, including technologies, and be able to evaluate student learning and modify methods to meet course outcomes. Instructors are also expected to hold weekly office hours and to participate in regular faculty meetings with colleagues in China and Newark. Instructors will travel to China at the beginning of August in preparation for a semester start date of September 2, 2024.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in TESOL or related field
- 2 years experience of teaching English writing
- For undergraduate courses: Experience teaching first-year composition for university students
- PhD or EdD
- TESOL certification
- Knowledge of Mandarin

Annual salary:
Dependent upon professional and academic qualifications and relevant work experience. Payment above the maximum range will be considered for exceptional candidates.
Return airfares each academic year, housing on the Jingyue campus, and cost of and assistance with the visa application will be provided.
Contract type: Full-time, one year renewable; the employer of record for successful candidates will be RUNIN. These are not RU-N positions and do not constitute RU-N employment.
