The Joint SDU-NTU Centre for Artificial Intelligence Research (C-FAIR) was launched on July 5, 2019. It was jointly established by Shandong University (SDU, China) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU, Singapore). Synergizing the strong research and education capabilities of both universities, C-FAIR focuses on the research areas of artificial intelligence fundamentals, AI+ health and aging, crowd science and smart government, block chain intelligence, cross-media intelligence, smart service applications, etc. By utilizing the “2+X” mode, C-FAIR brings together the R&D strengths of the relevant disciplines at SDU and NTU, while also involving other leading universities and top researchers from all over the world. This joint research centre aims to become a world-class platform for fundamental and translational research, lifelong education, talent development, and R&D commercialization.
In order to achieve the strategic goal of building a world-class research institute, C-FAIR has formulated a series of high-level talent recruitment plans with prestigious packages and funding support. We sincerely welcome talents from all over the world to join C-FAIR to create brilliance in Artificial Intelligence research together.
1. All-year Openings
1) Top Talents
1.Academicians, Changjiang Scholars, NSF Distinguished Young Scholars and other equivalent top talents in Artificial Intelligence (AI), computer science and technology, software engineering or related fields.
2) Top Young Talents
1.Talents awarded by National Youth Programs and other outstanding young scholars in Artificial Intelligence (AI), computer science and technology, software engineering or related fields.
2.Applicants who enter the interview stage of the national youth programs, along with other outstanding young scholars, may be recommended for talent programs at Shandong University with priority.
3) QILU Young Scholars
1.Doctorate holders in Artificial Intelligence (AI), computer science and technology, software engineering or related fields, who are under the age of 35.
2.The overseas applicant should be an assistant professor or above at high-level universities or an equivalent researcher in a research institution. Those with long-term overseas academic training will also be considered.
3.Applicants should have already achieved iconic research results with significant academic influence, and have strong academic potentials, as well as being at the forefront of their peers in their respective research fields.
4) Tenure-track Faculty
1.Tenure-track Professor: The applicant should be under the age of 40. The overseas applicant should be an assistant professor or a postdoctoral fellow at a high-level university or an equivalent research institution; the domestic applicant should be a professor or equivalent at a well-known university or research institution.
2.Tenure-track Associate Professor: The applicant should be under the age of 35. The overseas applicant should be an outstanding postdoctoral fellow or doctoral holder; the domestic applicant should be an associate professor or equivalent at a well-known university or research institution in China.
5) Adjunct Professor
1. Associate professors or above at a high-level overseas university or research institution; Changjiang Scholars, Scholars awarded by National Youth Programs, or other equivalent well-known scholars.
2. The application should be under the age of 60.
6) Postdoctoral Research Fellow (Special Funds)
1. Applicants should be PhD holders with outstanding research outcomes in the PhD period from top domestic or overseas universities or research institutes, who graduated within the past three years. The applicants should be under the age of 35.
3.The applicant needs to conduct consecutive postdoctoral research with a period of no less than 21 months in SDU.
7) Foreign Faculty & Faculty from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan
1.Applicants should be under the age of 50, abide by the constitution, laws and regulations of the People’s Republic of China, and respect the customs and habits of the nation, without any previous criminal records.
2.Applicants should hold a doctoral degree and have related working experience. Assistant professors or above associated with top universities or research institutes are preferred.
2. Remuneration and Package
1) Top Talents
Benefits and packages for top talents are negotiated case-by-case. C-FAIR will provide an additional package with a ratio of no-less-than-50% on top of the university’s package.
2) Top Young Experts
1. Academic title: Professor and doctoral supervisor. Exclusive admission quotas of doctoral students and master students will be provided.
2. On top of the annual salary of over 500,000 RMB by SDU, C-FAIR will provide an additional no-less-than 250,000 RMB remuneration.
3. Research Funds: university will provide research funds of about 2 to 3 million RMB, not including funding support from the national government. C-FAIR will provide an additional 1 to 1.5 million funding support as the research kick-off.
4. Housing benefits: 1.5 million RMB (including allowance from the national and provincial governments). SDU Experts’ Apartments will be provided at a preferential rate in the previous two years. C-FAIR will also provide no-less-than 750,000 RMB for the housing.
5. SDU provides high-quality healthcare and on-campus schooling for the children of successful applicants.
3) QILU Young Scholars
1. Academic title: Professor and doctoral supervisor. One exclusive doctoral admission quota and at least two master’s admission quotas will be provided in the first year.
2. On top of the annual salary of 300,000 to 400,000 RMB by SDU, C-FAIR will provide an additional 150,000 RMB allowance.
3. Research Funds: on top of the no-less-than 1 million RMB research fund by SDU, C-FAIR will provide an additional 500,000 RMB research kick-off fund.
4. Housing benefits: 300,000 – 500,000 RMB. SDU Experts’ Apartments will be provided at a preferential rate in the previous two years. C-FAIR will also provide the housing allowance of no-less-than 750,000 RMB.
5. SDU provides high-quality healthcare and on-campus schooling for the children of successful applicants.
4) Tenure-track Faculty
1. On the basis of the competitive salary and allowance provided by SDU based on the contribution, C-FAIR will provide an additional proportion of corresponding support.
2. SDU will provide 60,000 – 200,000 RMB kick-off research fund; the awardee of “Shandong University Young Scholar Future Plan” will get 200,000 – 500,000 RMB research funds. Moreover, C-FAIR will provide an additional proportion of corresponding support.
3. Housing allowance, high-quality healthcare and on-campus schooling for the children are provided for the successful applicants.
5) Adjunct Professor
1. During the employment period, performance bonus will be provided based on the completion of the contract performance indicators.
2. 50,000 RMB is provided for scientific research activities.
6) Postdoctoral Research Fellow (Special Funds)
1. On top of the annual salary of 300,000 RMB by SDU, C-FAIR will provide an additional allowance of 100,000 RMB.
2. Social insurance and housing accumulation funds in China are provided at the same standard as counterpart teaching faculty. Foreign postdoctoral research fellows are covered by commercial health insurance.
3. Apartments for postdoctoral research fellows are available at a preferential rate. C-FAIR will provide the housing allowance of 30,000 RMB.
4. High-quality healthcare and on-campus schooling for the children are provided for the successful applicants.
7) Foreign Faculty & Faculty from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan
1. Competitive annual salary with paid vacations.
2. Research funding: 60,000 to 200,000 RMB will be provided for scientific researchers.
3. Apartments are available at a preferential rate.
