About Hebei Foreign Studies University
Hebei Foreign Studies University (HFSU) is located in Shijiazhuang, Hebei Province, originally named “Shijiazhuang United College of Science and Technology” in 1998. In 2011, it prepared for the establishment of bachelor’s degree, and in March 2012, it was approved by the Ministry of Education to be officially upgraded to a bachelor’s level university and renamed as “Hebei Foreign Language Institute”. In May 2015, it was listed as a bachelor’s degree awarding institution by the Academic Degrees Committee of the People’s Government of Hebei Province, and in December 2016, it was listed as a master’s degree awarding institution by the Academic Degrees Committee of the People’s Government of Hebei Province.
As of October 2020, the college covers an area of 1,828,700 square meters (including 1,404,700 square meters in the new campus under construction), with a total building area of 402,600 square meters; there are 15 secondary colleges and 47 undergraduate majors; 12,144 full-time undergraduate students and 8,805 specialist students; and 628 full-time teachers.
Shijiazhuang Vocational College of Foreign Languages and Translation was established in 1998 in Shijiazhuang, Hebei Province.
In 2000, it was qualified as a pilot institution for national academic diploma. By 2007, the college had 10 languages, including English, Japanese, Korean, German, French, Russian, Spanish, Arabic, Thai and Vietnamese.
In April 2012, the Ministry of Education approved the college to be upgraded to a private undergraduate university and renamed Hebei Foreign Language College.
In May 2017, six majors of the college, including German, nursing, Portuguese, Arabic, engineering construction and preschool education, passed the audit of the expert group of the provincial government degree office and recommended the above six majors to be added as bachelor’s degree authorized majors.
Departments and Majors
As of October 2020, the college has 15 faculties and 47 undergraduate majors.
As of November 2018, the university has hired 7 foreign academicians, 689 teachers with master’s degree or above, 197 master’s and doctoral professional teachers with overseas study experience, and 210 foreign experts; there are 3 national outstanding teachers in scientific research.
Cooperation and Exchange
The college has had exchange student cooperation programs with more than 60 universities in more than 40 countries, such as the United States, Russia, Britain, Germany, France, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ukraine, Korea, Spain, Japan, Thailand, Mongolia, etc. The forms are: exchange students, 2+2 double degree, university preparatory courses, etc. Every year, 170-200 students from all over the university go to famous foreign universities for exchange studies free of charge.
Scientific Research Institutions
There are 26 research centers at the university level, including the Baltic Research Center, the Scottish Research Center, the Serbian Research Center, the Romanian Research Center and the New Media Research Center.
Scientific Research Achievements
As of October 2020, Hebei Foreign Studies University has undertaken 415 projects at all levels since its foundation, including 1 National Social Science Foundation project, 43 provincial projects, 38 departmental projects, 266 university projects, 67 other projects, and 181 educational reform projects. There are 20 books published, 22 monographs to be published, 251 self-published textbooks; 865 papers published, including 521 papers on educational reform and 34 papers in core journals; 3 studies including “Research on Innovation of “Quasi-Professional” Talent Cultivation Model in Applied Undergraduate Colleges” won the Teaching Achievement Award of Higher Education in Hebei Province.
