About Xi’an International University
Xi’an International University (XIIU) is a private university with a focus on undergraduate education and has been selected as one of the “100 Schools Project” in China.
Xi’an International University was founded in 1992 as Xi’an Foreign Service Training College and became an ordinary higher vocational college in May 2000 with the approval of Shaanxi Provincial People’s Government, and was renamed Xi’an International University in March 2005 with the approval of Ministry of Education.
The university covers an area of 1.264 million square meters, with a building area of 660,000 square meters. There are 8 secondary colleges, 40 undergraduate majors and 27 higher vocational majors, covering 8 disciplines of economics, management, literature, medicine, engineering, art, agriculture and education, forming a discipline and major system with economy, management, literature and medicine as the main subjects, and coordinated development of engineering, art, agriculture and education, as well as three unique characteristics of innovation and entrepreneurship education, international education and moral education. There are more than 21,000 students in school and 1,700 teaching staff.
The college is the first private university in Shaanxi Province to be approved to carry out international cooperative education and international student education, and has conducted programs and activities such as mutual recognition of credits and exchange of teachers and students with more than 40 universities in the U.S., U.K., France, Australia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, etc. From 2008 to 2013, more than 590 students were organized to study or intern in Japan, Korea, France, the U.S. and Australia. The joint training of international business talents with Southwest Sydney College in Australia has trained 638 students so far, 45% of whom have gone abroad for further study after graduation.
Since 2003, we have been recruiting foreign students, and nearly 600 students from 15 countries, including the United States, Japan, and Korea, have been studying in our college. The faculty of the college will undertake specific teaching work in English according to the syllabus provided by the other school, and the other school will recognize the credits, which opens up a new mode of education for international students. We actively promote the research of internationalization of private higher education by holding international seminars and international academic conferences on private higher education.
