COLLEGE OF INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION

Established in 2000, the College of International Education (CIE) is a self-funded unit of Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) offering full-time Associate Degree and Undergraduate Honours Degree programmes at both the HKBU Kowloon Tong and Shatin Shek Mun campuses. It is a major education providing unit of the School of Continuing Education (SCE), one of the eight Faculties/Schools of HKBU. CIE currently enrolls about 4,000 students and is committed to sustaining the University’s mission of providing quality whole-person higher education with a Christian heritage. English is used as the medium of instruction at the College. Applications are now invited for the following position:

Guidance Counsellor / Assistant Guidance Counsellor (PR0299/22-23)

The appointee will develop and oversee initiatives for student development. Duties include articulation and career development, guidance and counselling, liaising with academic and administrative teams within the College, with the HKBU community and external bodies for provision of student activities and experiential learning opportunities.

Applicants should have a higher degree in Counselling, Psychology, Social Work or Mental Health, plus substantial counselling experience and supervisory/administrative experience, preferably at the tertiary education sector. Applicants should also hold a professional license to practise counselling or psychotherapy. They are also expected to demonstrate outstanding interpersonal skills, leadership qualities and collegiality as a team player. Candidates with less experience will be considered for the post of Assistant Guidance Counsellor.

The post of Guidance Counsellor will be aligned to the rank of Lecturer II. For Assistant Guidance Counsellor, it will be aligned to the rank of Assistant Lecturer.

Reference salary range:
Lecturer II : HK$38,000 – HK$49,000
Assistant Lecturer : HK$30,000 – HK$37,000

The appointee will work on either/both the Kowloon Tong or/and Shatin Shek Mun campuses.

The initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract of two years. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement and availability of funding.

Rank and Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
