About HUTB:

HUTB is recruiting experienced English Language teachers for the upcoming March semester. HUTB, was founded in 1949 and is a financial and economic university. The university has two campuses and a free shuttle bus is available to travel between them. The main campus where teachers live is ideally located in Yue Lu District. The campus includes refurbished classrooms, several cafes and recently opened gym. Furthermore, there are many shops and restaurants near campus and two shopping malls within walking distance. Also, Xi Hu Lake and Mei Xi Lake are easily accessible from campus. Finally, there is a line 6 subway stop next to the university which provides easy access to both the city centre and airport.

Job Profile:

You will teach students studying English, Business English and other majors through the school of foreign languages. Courses include Oral English, Business English and A Survey of the Major English Speaking Countries. The university provides books for these courses and the teachers will set their own homework and write the midterm and final exams. Class sizes range from 30 – 65.

The academic year starts in September and finishes in June/July. Also, teachers enjoy the same national holidays as the students and a long winter holiday in January and February.

Responsibilities:

1. – Teach 16 periods per week, each period is 45 minutes long and each class is made up of two 45 minute periods
2. – Office work includes lesson planning, grading, exam peroration, course admin, editing and meeting with students.
3. – At the start of each term teachers need to submit their syllabus and they can use a past syllabus as a template
4. – Teachers need to set homework and write their midterm and final exams. If they are teaching the same course with the Chinese teachers then they may write the final exam.
5. – Class sizes range from 30 – 65
6. – English level for English Majors is intermediate and advanced and basic to advanced for non-English majors.
7. – Teaching resources available include an office with several computers, course books and the classrooms include computer, projector and internet.
8. – The students meet for one 90 minute class per week
9. – Other duties can include English Corner, editing, speech training, being a speech competition judge and taking part in the University Sports Day and other activities.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree (or above)
• 2 years of teaching experience, which could be from a training school, state school or university
• TEFL certificate 120 hours（or plus）

Salary & Benefits:

• Salary: 8,000-10000 RMB per month
• Air Ticket and Travel Allowance: 12,000 RMB per year
• Insurance: 1,500 RMB per year
• Lunch Allowance: 2,400 per semester (faculty buffet lunch, 12 RMB per meal)
• Accommodation: one bedroom with gas, water and electricity or 5,000 RMB allowance is offered if such an apartment isn’t needed.
• Teaching Hours: 256 hours per semester, averaging 16 hours per week.
• Holidays: Same paid holidays as Chinese colleagues. The national Holidays include Mid-Autumn Festival, National Day, New Year’s Day, Spring Festival (this is during the January/February winter holiday), Qing Ming Festival, Labor Day and Dragon Boat Festival.
