Post-Doctoral Research Fellows (PR0788/21-22)

The appointees will work with the Global STEM Scholar, Professor David Parker FRS on three new multidisciplinary research projects in the areas of chemical probe development for analysis and imaging for the ChemProbes Laboratory, with a view to future translation to applications in healthcare. A strong background in synthetic and mechanistic chemistry and/or coordination chemistry is desirable.

Responsibilities:

  • synthesise and purify target chemical probes complexes and their conjugates;
  • characterise their properties in detail;
  • perform analyses using high-performance liquid chromatography/ultra-performance liquid chromatography, liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry;
  • draft reports/papers; and
  • undertake any other duties as assigned.

Applicants should have/be:

  • a PhD in the Chemical Sciences or related disciplines from a leading institution, preferably with strong knowledge of and experience in the following:

– the synthesis of ligands and conjugates;
– coordination chemistry;
– imaging science; and
– luminescence methods.

  • conversant with the use of pulsed NMR methods, high-performance liquid chromatography/ultra-performance liquid chromatography, liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry;
  • experienced in modern photophysical measurements ideally;
  • highly self-motivated, responsive, conscientious, able to work independently and to collaborate productively with a multidisciplinary team; and
  • a strong commitment to research work and be able to manage their time efficiently and effectively.

Applicants with a recent PhD and/or more experience will be considered for Post-doctoral Research Fellowships. The initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract of two years. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement.

Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
