About Sichuan University Pittsburgh Institute

Sichuan University Pittsburgh Institute is a new Sino-foreign joint institute established by Sichuan University and the University of Pittsburgh, which is a new model of international education run by two prestigious Chinese and American universities with international reputation. The Institute is one of the five colleges officially approved by the Ministry of Education at the level of Sino-US university cooperative institutions, introducing the philosophy, curriculum, faculty and quality educational resources of international top universities. Combining the academic and educational strengths of both universities, the Institute is committed to providing advanced engineering education.

Located on the international campus of Sichuan University in Jiang’an, the college is equipped with world-class teaching and laboratory facilities in a brand-new teaching and laboratory building in accordance with the standards of the University of Pittsburgh.

The Institute will offer three majors: Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Design and Manufacturing, and Materials Science and Engineering, and will add other majors or offer master’s and doctoral training according to future development needs. In 2015, the College started to enroll 100 students in the first phase and will increase year by year to reach a total of 1600 students.

Graduates will receive a diploma from Sichuan University, a degree and a certificate of study from Sichuan University Pittsburgh College. At the same time, students can choose to study at the University of Pittsburgh in the United States in their junior or senior year, and graduate with a dual degree from both Sichuan University and the University of Pittsburgh.

The Institute is located in the beautiful Jiang’an campus of Sichuan University, 30 minutes from downtown and about 10 minutes from the airport. The campus is conveniently connected to other campuses of Sichuan University by school bus and public transportation.
