Goals, Vision, and Mission

Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (SIAT) invites applications for faculty and chair positions available from its newly established Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences. SIAT has several research institutions that focus on advanced technologies in biomedical sciences, pharmaceutical sciences, material sciences and engineering, as well as artificial intelligence and computer sciences.

The Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences is one of the six faculties recently established, which also include Faculties of Biomedical Engineering, Life and Health Sciences, Computer Science and Engineering, Material Science and Engineering.

Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences is a college in Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. It aims to train students with knowledge of pharmaceutical sciences and help them become leaders in teaching, research, drug development, and clinical practice; through its various research centers or laboratories, the faculty also conducts world-class research in pharmaceutical sciences and related biomedical fields.

Pharmaceutical Sciences are key disciplines connecting natural sciences and clinical medicine. Focusing on major challenges of the society related to health and diseases, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences is committed to train highly motivated young students with international vision, comprehensive literacy, and a passion for innovation.

The following positions are available: Chair of the Department of Clinical Pharmacy and Translational Medicine (1)，Chair for Immunological, Oncological, and Infectious Disease Research Programs，Chair Professor / Professor / Associate Professor / (several)

Position 1: Chair of the Department of Clinical Pharmacy and Translational Medicine (1)

Job Summary

Overview: The ultimate goal of the pharmaceutical industry is to completely eliminate patients’ diseases. Clinical Pharmacy studies the clinical effects and applications of drugs with patients as the object. Translational medicine is an emerging discipline of medical science, and it is an interdisciplinary subject that studies the transformation of basic theoretical knowledge into medical products. The main purpose of translational medicine is to break the inherent barriers between basic medicine, pharmacy, and clinical medicine, and build a bridge between them, so that the results of basic research can be quickly transformed into new drugs or methods for prevention and treatment of diseases.

Job-specific Responsibilities

(i)Establish his/her area of independent research as appropriate to the work of the Department, ensuring a commitment to the highest standards of ethics and integrity in research.

(ii)Participate in collaborative research projects as appropriate to the discipline.

(iii)Identify sources of funding and secure funding for his/her research programme.

(iv)Write papers and submit for publication in leading research journals and/or leading national/international conference proceedings or other outputs as appropriate to the discipline.

(v)Supervise doctoral research students as required.

Qualifications

Applicants must hold a PhD, MD, or D. Pharmacy degree. Applicants for the leadership position should be experienced in managing research groups, and be willing to build a world-class team excellent in both research and education (for undergraduate and graduate students).

Position 2: Chair for Immunological, Oncological, and Infectious Disease Research Programs

Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Engineering

Job Summary

The Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Engineering track focuses on drug formulation, development, and delivery.Areas of emphasis include:the application of physical, physical-organic, and analytical chemistry to solve pharmaceutical problems the design, development, and optimization of dosage forms for small and large molecules, and fundamental research in materials science and nanotechnology to advance drug delivery systems design.

Job-specific Responsibilities

Job Summary

The following faculty positions are available: Chair Professor / Professor / Associate Professor in any field of biomedicine or pharmaceutical sciences, which include, but are not limited to, pharmaceutical chemistry, immunology, molecular and cellular biology, oncology, nanotechnology, bioengineering, pharmaceutics, pharmacology, and translational medicine.

Job-specific Responsibilities

(i)Establish his/her area of independent research as appropriate to the work of the Department, ensuring a commitment to the highest standards of ethics and integrity in research.

(ii)Participate in collaborative research projects as appropriate to the discipline.

(iii)Identify sources of funding and secure funding for his/her research programme.
