School Profile​

In 1984, the Foreign Language Department of Yantai University was aided in its establishment by Peking University, making it one of the earliest departments founded when Yantai University was first established. In 1985, the department began enrolling undergraduate students, and in 1989, it obtained the right to award bachelor’s degrees. In 1999, the Foreign Language Department and the Language Training Center merged to form the School of Foreign Languages.​

Currently, the school offers three undergraduate programs: English, Korean, and Japanese (with the English program being a national-level first-class undergraduate program construction site). It also holds authorization for a first-level discipline master’s degree in Foreign Language and Literature and a professional master’s degree in Translation. The school has over 1,200 undergraduate and graduate students in attendance.​

There are 118 faculty and staff members, including 4 professors, 31 associate professors, 32 teachers with doctoral degrees, and 23 master’s supervisors. These faculty members are distributed across 4 teaching units (the English Department, Korean Department, Japanese Department, and College Foreign Language Teaching Division) and 4 research institutions (the Institute of Foreign Language and Culture, Translation Research Center, Korean Studies Center of the East Asian Institute, and Foreign Language Educational Technology Research Center).​

Qualifications

  • Must be a native English speaker.​
  • Hold a bachelor’s degree; a TEFL certificate is preferred.​
  • Have two years of teaching experience (preferred).​

Remuneration & Benefits​

  • Monthly Salary: RMB 10,000 – 12,000 per month.​
  • Contract Renewal Bonus: Half month’s salary, which will be awarded upon contract renewal.​
  • Free Accommodation: A furnished on-campus apartment located in a convenient area, with easy access to dining, shopping, entertainment, and transportation facilities.​
  • Airfare Allowance: RMB 5,000 per semester.​
  • Travel Allowance: RMB 1,100 per semester.​
  • Visa & Work Permit Support: The school will provide assistance in applying for the appropriate work visa and work permit notice. Note: Visa application fees incurred in the candidate’s home country shall be borne by the candidate themselves.​
  • Medical Care: Comprehensive health insurance coverage will be provided.​
  • Working Hours: A maximum of 16 teaching hours per week.
  • Paid leave will be granted for all Chinese public holidays.​
  • Candidates are entitled to 6 weeks of fully paid leave, which can be taken either during the winter break or summer break.​
  • Travel & Daily Support: All office staff and teaching assistants are bilingual (proficient in both English and Chinese) and will provide assistance with travel arrangements and general support for teachers.
