About Beijing University of Technology

Founded in 1960, Beijing University of Technology (BJUT) is a multi-disciplinary, municipal key university combining engineering, science, economics, management, literature, law, art and education. In September 2017, the university officially entered the ranks of national first-class discipline construction universities, and eight disciplines were ranked among the top 500 in the 2020 QS World University Rankings, and ranked 32nd in the QS 2020 World University Rankings. The university is ranked 32nd in mainland China, and six disciplines – engineering, materials science, chemistry, environmental science and ecology, computer science, biology and biochemistry – are in the top 1% of ESI.

The main campus is located at 100 PingLand, Chaoyang District, Beijing, east of South East 4th Ring Road, west of West Dawang Road, south of Shuanglong Road, and north of PingLand District; there are 6 other campuses in Zhonglan, Guanzhuang, Huayuan Village, Luluijing, Huixin Dongjie and Tongzhou; covering an area of 960,150,510 square meters.

The university has 16 teaching and research institutions, 70 undergraduate majors and 34 graduate majors covering 34 disciplines; 33 first-level disciplines, 20 first-level doctoral degree authorization points; 33 first-level master’s degree authorization points and 18 professional degree authorization categories; 18 postdoctoral mobile stations with 253 people in them. There are 3 national key disciplines, 21 Beijing key disciplines and 18 Beijing key construction disciplines. There are 24,935 students on campus, including 8,569 full-time graduate students (1,500 doctoral students and 7,069 master students) and 837 part-time master students in academic education; 13,381 general undergraduates and 1,670 adult education undergraduates. There are 478 international students in the school (473 academic students and 5 non-academic students).
