ABOUT US
On the 9th of January 2018, Chinese President Xi Jinping and French President Emmanuel Macron witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Beihang University and École Nationale de l’Aviation Civile (ENAC) for jointly founding Zhongfa Aviation University in Hangzhou, China.
With the goal of becoming a world-leading university, Zhongfa Aviation University is dedicated to multidisciplinary and innovation-oriented education as well as interdisciplinary and cutting-edge research, all achieved through a new international university model.
Zhongfa Aviation University sits in Hangzhou, adjacent to Liangzhu Ancient City, a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site. The picturesque campus, covering an area of over 240 acres in a scenic setting, will provide state-of-the-art facilities designed to facilitate the best environment possible for students and staff in which they can thrive. The construction of the campus will be completed by 2023. In the present preparatory stage, the university operates from an interim campus in the north west of Hangzhou.
Currently, Zhongfa Aviation University is awaiting approval for its establishment from the Ministry of Education of China.
RESEARCH AREAS
The four schools seek talents in various fields, including, but not limited to:
School of Civil Aviation: space-air-ground integrated network and aeronautical broadband communication, air traffic management and transportation planning, avionics and satellite navigation, general aviation and intelligent operations, and civil aviation finance and regulations.
School of Aerospace: transonic and hypersonic aerodynamics and thermodynamics, green aviation and alternative aviation fuels (AAFs), aerospace big data, smart cloud, aerospace environmental and climatic implications, unmanned/manned general aviation, and unconventional aerospace engineering.
School of Informatics: precision measurement and sensing technology, integrated circuit design tools and manufacturing equipment, and artificial intelligence.
School of Engineering: advanced aeronautics materials, new functional materials, computational materials science, and intelligent manufacturing.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
To apply, candidates should fit one of the four following categories:
Type A (Chair Professor): winners of major international science and technology awards such as the Nobel Prize, Fields Prize, Turing Prize; Members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Chinese Academy of Engineering, or leading academic institutions of equivalent status in other countries; world-leading scholars who have held tenures at top universities or research institutions; CEOs or CTOs of leading technology companies.
Type B (Associate Professor/ Full Professor): tenured associate professors/ full professors at top universities or research institutions, OR exceptional scholars with excellence in academic performance and global academic influence. The selected candidates should hold a doctorate from a top university or research institution.
Type C (Assistant Professor/ Associate Professor): assistant professors/ associate professors at top universities or research institutions, OR scholars with an outstanding track record of academic or technological performance in their fields of research. The selected candidates should hold a doctorate from a top university or research institution.
Type D (Postdoctoral fellow): Ph.D. graduates from top universities with strong scientific research capabilities and recognised academic potential.
REMUNERATION, FUNDING, AND BENEFITS
Successful candidates are provided with the following remuneration, funding, and benefits, which will be commensurate with their qualifications and experience:
Salary
(a) An internationally competitive salary and fringe benefits of superior level for candidates of the equivalent position in their previous universities/institutions.
(b) An annual basic salary of US$46,000 to US$61,000 for post-doctorates.
Research funding
(a) State-of-the-art research platforms, generous research funding, ample laboratory space and an excellent office environment (the establishment of tailored research labs will be strongly supported).
(b) Assistance with application for national, provincial and municipal talent programmes and research funding.
Benefits
(a) Rent-free fully furnished apartment.
(b) Up to US$1,230,000 housing subsidies from the Municipal Government of Hangzhou; up to US$12,300 living and settlement subsidies granted to full-time Ph.D. graduates; up to US$18,460 annual living subsidies for in-station post-docs; up to US$61,520 living allowance for researchers who have completed a post-doctoral programme within a year.
(c) Access to high-quality nursery/primary education for children.
