About Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics
Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics (JUFE), located in Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province, is a full-time general undergraduate university. It is a full-time general undergraduate university jointly built by the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Education and the People’s Government of Jiangxi Province. It is a member of International Social Work Education Consortium, International Business School Consortium, China-Russia Economic University Consortium and United Nations Academic Impact.
The university was formerly known as Jiangxi Provincial Commercial School founded in the autumn of 1923, and Jiangxi Finance and Economics College was established in 1958, which was renamed and suspended several times during the Cultural Revolution, and was reopened in 1978.
As of May 2021, the university has four campuses: Jiaoqiao Park, Mailu Park, Fenglin Park and Qingshan Park (excluding the independent college Gongqing Campus), covering an area of more than 2,200 mu, with a building area of more than 1 million square meters and a collection of 8.62 million books (including 1.89 million electronic books); 17 teaching colleges, 4 management colleges and 1 independent college, with a total of 57 undergraduate majors. There are 7 post-doctoral stations, 7 primary doctoral degree programs, 39 secondary doctoral degree programs, 13 primary master’s degree programs, 70 secondary master’s degree programs and 18 professional master’s degree programs; there are 2,313 faculty members, 1,326 full-time teachers, 21,000 full-time undergraduates and more than 6,000 postgraduates.
The campus transportation bus was opened in April 1999 to provide convenient on-campus transportation services for students, faculty, staff, visitors and office workers.
The operating hours of the campus bus are from 7:10 to 18:00 on weekdays, and from 8:00 to 18:00 on Saturdays, Sundays and legal holidays; if the operating hours are adjusted during the winter and summer holidays, the announcement shall prevail. First departure point: West Campus Gate, one departure every 10 minutes (one-way interval is one departure every 20 minutes).
In May 2020, Wushulian’s 2020 China University Rankings were released. Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics is ranked 138th in the overall strength of Chinese universities.
In December 2020, Softbank released the list of “2020 Softbank China University Ranking Series: Liberal Arts Power Ranking”, Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics ranked 65th.
January 21, 2021, ranked 296th in the January 2021 National University ESI Ranking.
Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics adheres to open schooling and has established stable cooperation and exchange relations with 140 universities in 40 countries and regions, including University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, New York Institute of Technology, McMaster University, Southampton University, France, Monash University, Australia, University of Oulu, Finland, Aalborg University, Denmark and Lisbon University College, Portugal.
In 1998, the university was approved to cooperate with the New York Institute of Technology in the United States of America in the Sino-US cooperative training MBA program. Our university has joined international organizations such as the International Social Work Education Alliance Organization, International Business School Alliance, China-Russia Economic University Alliance, United Nations Academic Impact, and China-ASEAN Tourism Education Alliance.
In 2013, the university was approved by the Ministry of Education as a host institution for Chinese government scholarships for international students, approved by the Ministry of Commerce for the Master of International Business program, selected in 2014 for the National Undergraduate International Exchange Program of the National Committee for Education, and the Public Graduate Program of the National High-level University, approved in 2015 for the Dual Degree Program with Dalarna University, Sweden, and approved in 2017 for the “Silk Road” scholarship program of the Chinese government.
In May 2016, the Confucius Institute was officially opened in cooperation with Coventry University. In May 2016, the Confucius Institute was inaugurated in cooperation with Coventry University.
In 2002, the university established the International College and opened undergraduate teaching pilot classes with four major directions of accounting (international accounting), international economics and trade (CITF direction), finance (international investment and finance) and finance (CFA direction), which are taught by teachers from famous universities in the United States and Canada for a long time. The university has also opened foreign-related majors in accounting (ACCA direction), accounting (CIMA direction), finance (FRM direction), international marketing and international economics and trade in the relevant colleges, and the teaching methods and resources are in line with international standards, which has formed the initial characteristics of international schooling.
Since the first batch of international students from Vienna University of Economics in Austria was admitted in 1997, the university has been offering full English-taught majors at all levels and has established a system of education for students coming to China from undergraduate, master’s and doctoral levels, and has successfully passed the quality certification of the Ministry of Education in 2018. Since 2013, more than 2,000 students have studied in universities in the United Kingdom, the United States, Germany, France, Finland and the Netherlands, and more than 1,000 students have studied for master’s or doctoral degrees in the top 100 universities in the world after graduation, and more than 100 students have entered the top 20 universities in the world, such as Cambridge University, Oxford University and Columbia University. The university regularly holds activities such as study abroad consultation exhibition, overseas study sharing sessions, international cultural festival and summer camps in China, and more than 100 famous scholars from overseas come to the university every year to teach and lecture and hold international academic conferences, which builds a platform for teachers and students to exchange abroad, enhances the integration of Chinese and foreign teachers and students, and strengthens the international atmosphere of the campus.
There are four campuses at JUFE. Jiaoqiao campus is the main campus. Mailu is for sports, art, law and software faculties. The Fenglin Campus is for students of School of Economics and Management. Qinshan is for EMBA student.
International Teachers at JUFE
In the afternoon of September 29, 2020, the university held a pre-service training session for foreign teachers and a working meeting for foreign teacher co-teachers. The meeting was hosted by Liu Xiaobing, Deputy Director of International Cooperation and Exchange Office, Xiao Long, Director of International Cooperation and Exchange Office, Zhang Shanjun, Vice Dean of Foreign Language College, all foreign teachers of International College, International Business and Economics College and Law School, foreign teachers’ cooperating teachers and relevant staff attended the meeting. The purpose of the meeting was to introduce to foreign teachers the laws and regulations of China and the requirements related to teacher ethics of the school’s teacher action regulations, to help foreign teachers integrate into education and teaching, to improve the quality of foreign teachers’ teaching, and to give full play to the active role of foreign teachers’ cooperating teachers, to jointly do a good job in the management of foreign teachers in the school and to improve the effectiveness of foreign teachers’ employment.
On the meeting, Xiao Long, director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Office, introduced the purpose of the International Office to hold this working meeting and requested foreign teachers, cooperating teachers, all relevant colleges and the International Office to cooperate closely and take their respective responsibilities, so as to form a concentric circle of foreign teachers’ work, strive to improve the quality of teaching, do a good job of service, tell the story of JUFE, and enhance foreign teachers’ sense of identity and belonging to JUFE.
After that, Liu Xiaobing, deputy director of International Cooperation and Exchange Office, led the participants to study the bilingual version of “Pre-job Training Manual for Foreign Teachers of Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics” and the two management measures of “Management Measures for Foreign Teachers of Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics” and “Management Measures for Foreign Teachers and Cooperating Teachers of Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics” introduced this year, which elaborated the duties of foreign teachers and cooperating teachers from nine aspects, such as laws and regulations, classroom etiquette, teaching regulations and teaching requirements. The management measures of foreign teachers and cooperative teachers of Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics Zhang Shanjun, vice dean of the College of Foreign Languages, also put forward higher requirements for the work of foreign teachers and cooperating teachers in terms of grading system, participation in teaching activities and classroom teaching evaluation.
In the free exchange session, foreign teachers, cooperating teachers and staff of the International Office spoke, exchanging their work experience and putting forward opinions and suggestions on the management and service work of foreign teachers.
