This discipline is committed to build a novel knowledge and technical system, forming a characteristic discipline group of resource material, leading the development of the resource material industry, supporting the cultivation of innovative talents, and serving regional economic and social development. The discipline consists of four research divisions: mineral processing and materialization, material design and green metallurgy, advanced material forming and mold technology, refractory and super hard materials.
Currently, the resource material discipline has eight national platforms, including the National Engineering Research Center for Rubber and Plastic Molds, the National and Local Joint Engineering Research Center for Green Milling, Smelting and Processing, and the Innovation and Talents Recruitment Base of Lightweight and Functional Polymer Molding and Mold.
In the past five years, we engaged the research in material performance and impact of resource/energy consumption on environment, and obtained breakthroughs in the core metal industries and the extraction technology of short-supply metals. Besides, the fundamental theory and technical system of efficient and clean extraction of key metals and high-purity material have been established. In addition, breakthroughs are made in the advanced target material preparation technology and the extreme environment-friendly plastic parts forming technology. The journal ‘Energy & Environmental Materials’ that was founded by the discipline has been included in SCIE and Scopus databases. The resource material discipline’s position in the ESI global ranking, in the Academic Ranking of World Universities and in the US News ranking got significantly promoted.
